Post Graduate Diploma in Management- International Business

2 year, AICTE approved full-time program, Co-certified by ITM, ESSCA & EDHEC

In the seven years since the launch of the PGDM International Business program, ITM has seen significant validation of its objective- to develop a cadre of managers trained in the concepts and details of global business.

India has firmly and irrefutably established itself at the forefront of economic and social revolution in the world. With a burgeoning middle-class armed with billions of dollars of discretionary income, a young and ambitious workforce and the increasing improvement of its infrastructure and regulatory environment, few MNCs can expect to compete without creating an “India” agenda. Indian companies themselves, emerging into the harsh light of open markets have transformed themselves into Multinationals, extending their reach into international market.

In such a volatile environment, prospective managers require more specific and detailed training and education, focusing not only on standard management theory and operational knowledge, but also on globally sensitive business operations.

The fast track schedule of the program provides individuals with crucial insight on all aspects of international business emphasizing operational and strategic dimensions of international management, marketing, trade, commerce and investment. This program ensures that students are trained to understand markets and international operations of companies, and also equipped with the practical skills needed to operate effectively in global contexts.

Intensive curriculum
The students are presented with a thoroughly researched, well-sequenced curriculum. A total of 5 terms, including a European Study Term (described below) completes the program. Starting in the 1st term with management fundamentals and basic research and study skills, students take on upto 10 subjects per term, studying a wide scope of management subjects with international focus.

A unique European business experience
The focal point of the program is the 4th trimester, which is a three month European Study Term. The program takes students to France and Hungary, to be trained by international faculties and directly exposed to the realities of business operations in the EU and Eastern Europe.

In France, the group joins an international group of post-graduate students from top US and Asian business schools at the Nice and Lille campuses of renowned EDHEC Business School. EDHEC's European Summer Program immerses students into the business environment of the EU- covering the regulatory, market and economic environments as well as providing first-hand insight into the operations of selected companies through industrial visits.

On to Budapest, Hungary, where the group attends a customized “Doing business in Europe” program conducted by Group ESSCA, a Grande Ecole institution. The Budapest Summer Program focuses on the nuances of business practices in Central and Eastern Europe, through company visits, interactions with executives from top corporates and intensive classroom interactions with international faculties.

An optional 5 week study term at ESAI, Shanghai, China may be offered.

Industry Connections Throughout the program, students are presented with numerous opportunities to leverage their theoretical learning through direct interaction with practicing managers from industry. Students are required to undertake research and project work as part of their studies.

For Indian companies that have collaborations in Europe or have interest in developing markets, product lines or tie-ups with European companies, the International Business student group represents a unique research and exploration opportunity.

During the 3rd term of the program, students take on research projects, concurrently with their course. These projects are further explored while the students are in Europe during the 4th term.
