1. Who is an optometrist?
Answer : Optometrists are primary Health care practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide Comprehensive eye and vision care, which include refraction and dispensing spectacles, detection/diagnosis and co-management of diseases in the eye and the rehabilitation of the conditions of the visual system.
2. What are the Eligibility Criteria for an Optometry Course?
Answer : As per the UGC guidelines, it is recommended that the students entering the optometry program should have completed the recognized higher secondary school studies as the qualification stipulated for B. optometry is 10+2 with sciences (Biology/mathematics) with aggregated marks of 40%
3. What is the duration of the Optometry Course?
Answer : Bachelors in Optometry is 4 years program that consists of 3 academic years and 1 year of clinical training/ internship.
4. What are the roles of an Optometrist?
Answer : To manage and correct the disorders/ diseases of the visual system and recognise and detect related systemic conditions and manage ocular manifestation. Diagnose, treat, and manage binocular and perceptual visual disorders. Prescribing spectacle and contact lens. rehabilitation of the conditions of the visual system.
5. What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?
Answer : Optometrists are the first line of care for your eye health. They perform routine eye exams, prescribe corrective lenses, and know when a person needs to see an ophthalmologist. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors that specialize in the care of more complex eye disorders and perform eye surgery if required.
6. Do I need to appear in the NEET exam if I want to take admission in the Optometry/ MLT course?

Answer : A candidate who have completed diploma in optometry from recognised university (after completion of 10+2 with science) can join the undergraduate course. They would be eligible to join in 2nd year of optometry.
10. What is M. Optometry?
