Myopia Is Becoming a Bigger Clinical Challenge

A study of 2.24 million Indian schoolchildren found myopia prevalence increasing from 1.57% at ages 5–9 to 4.8% at ages 15–18.

Advanced Skills Matter

Among 393 Indian optometrists surveyed, less than half routinely performed ocular biometry, highlighting gaps in contemporary myopia-management practice.

Refractive Error Remains a Major Burden

A 2026 meta-analysis of 43 Indian studies estimated an overall refractive-error prevalence of 11% among schoolchildren, with myopia at approximately 8%.
