In this 22nd century and in the world of corporates if one wants to earn his/her luxurious living he/she must be well known to the management studies and for the same one has to pursue MBA from the best colleges for business studies after his/her graduation because MBA is most known as well as effective course if one wants a perfect knowledge in the field of management or business.
This is the most difficult entrance exam for MBA.
XAT(Xavier Aptitude Test) is a national-level management entrance examination conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admissions in MBA/PGDM courses.
Apart from XLRI there are over 500+ business schools accepting XAT scores.
This exam consists of 100 MCQ words with negative marking for 1 incorrect and 1 un attempted question.
XAT cut offs go around 95 percentile for male students and 92 female students.
Why appear for the Xavier Aptitude Test?
Definitely one of the biggest reasons to give this exam is to get into the top business colleges like XLRI Jamshedpur which is India’s oldest B-School with consistent rankings and a great campus in the coveted top 5. For brilliant placements like HR, Business Management and Product Management etc.
Other top business schools accepting XAT at lower percentile than CAT are MICA, XIMB, IMT-G, GIM, JBIMS(depending upon DTE) and a couple of other colleges also.
The paper pattern is pretty much similar to CAT(except one section) and extensive CAT preparation can be effective in XAT exam and it can be a bounce back opportunity if the CAT exam doesn’t go well.
Decision Making-
It’s nothing to get feared of as it's one of the most interesting and practical sections for any management aspirant. Thus, XAT preparation will help in B-School. If you have a management argument which you should build because at the end you must be dreaming about MBA this could be the most interesting and practical subject as well which will be fun for you in exams also.
How to crack XAT?
The typical structure is little different from CAT exam here in fact it's more like how CAT used to be years back: Here you have verbal; and logical reasoning combined in one section with 26 questions, Decision Making stands alone in one section with 21 questions, Quantitative Ability with Data Interpretation combined in one section with 28 questions for all of these 75 questions you have in total 165 minutes and the good thing is there's no sectional time allocation so one cloud juggle through the sections and go through all the 75 questions and attempt as per the convenience whatever section one wants to attempt first and keep toddling between. After this all there's one more section of General Knowledge where there are 25 questions for 25 marks to be attempted in 15 minutes and the good thing is that this section will not be contributing in overall XAT percentile and this is considerable only for XLRI.
Marking Scheme-
The most important thing to understand is the marking scheme in XAT.
1 mark for each question, no negative marking for General Knowledge section but for other sections there's a negative marking of 0.25 for each incorrect question and 0.1 for every unattempted after 8 questions. So make sure not to leave the questions after leaving 8 questions.
There's sectional cutoffs also therefore attempt all the questions adequately.
Concluding 100 questions 100 marks 180 minutes.
