I was a very confused person. All I knew was I needed a MBA degree for a better job and a better life. But ITM Blore had changed my entire concept of a professional degree. Each student over here is allocated a mentor who understands the student and guides him in taking effective decisions during the course. And luckily I have Dr.Sarita Iyer as my mentor who strongly believes that earning a degree in management is not just having a knowledge about the marketing , finance and human resource concepts but to become a holistic individual. She is also my marketing professor and the director of the institution. In spite of her busy schedule, she used to find time to tune into the needs of her mentees as well as other students.
Taking the lessons outside the boundaries of a classroom to the real world is the real USP of my college and they do this by the I- connect internship programme, where students get the opportunity to do something like a dress rehearsal before entering the real corporate world for a period of 5 months. I had the opportunity to associate with a startup company called Pramartha where I could understand and learn the working, administration and organizing of various departments of a company, which includes sales, marketing and promotions, advertising and event management and trust me the knowledge and experience that I gained during this period was far more than the one that I had during my 2 years with IBM. Moreover, the NGO internship at ITM which I had done at Vidya – an organization that takes care of underprivileged women and children, helped me in understanding the importance of being beneficent in life.
Altogether, my experience at ITM was very fruitful because it is here where I transformed myself into a focused individual with a soul. I know I have miles to go ahead and a lot of dreams to conquer in my career. And it is my college ITM Bangalore and my teachers who played a very crucial role in helping me build that ardor and confidence within me to set for this journey of dreams.
