About the Speaker:
Mr. Dinesh Makhijani is posted as senior manager in central constructions, Reliance , Navi Mumbai. He has worked for 20years in execution of EPC projects with companies such as Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, Siemens and Toyo Engineering. He has also been conducting training courses at companies such as ACC, Elomatic Pharma-lab on Application of Industrial Automation , practices and user Benefits.
Mr. Makhijani shared his experience of managing a project in petrochemical industry with BPCL. He mainly emphasized on Time management and People management tactics during projects. The time schedule can be maintained by adopting new technologies and conducting brain storming sessions among the project site in-charge. Mr. Makhijani said that the best idea sometimes comes from the ground level staff. He said that the best projects in the world happens due to the vision of the visionaries and it is the responsibility of the leaders to complete them.
Mr Makhijani listed out some of the risks in the project which are Resistance for change, Technical expertise, cost, schedule, Client, Financial, political, Environmental and people.
He also advised that it is important to highlight issues related to scope, time and cost at the start of the project as to avoid any issues with the client. It is also advisable to document all the activities. Learning and Unlearning is a part of any activity and one must keep learning to enhance self -motivation. Moreover, most important is to accept shortcoming, to improve it and adapt to changing environment.
