With the determination to equip the students with modern day skills and knowledge to transform them into professionals, Mark e demics 2019 of ITM Business School, Kharghar conducted a workshop on SAP- Sales & Distribution efficiently.

The trainer Mr. Rakesh started with an introduction about SAP. SAP stands for System Application & products in Data Processing. SAP is the leading ERP in the market & is basically used for data centralisation. It is used by different departments to generate the MIS report. ERP has evolved and SAP is the market leader because it gives proper and detailed analysis of profit & loss a/c, balance sheet and income statement of the company.

SAP Sales & Distribution is one of the most useful modules of SAP ERP. It contains all the information regarding customer and services. In an organization it deals with shipping, selling and transportation of goods and services.

Topics precisely and widely covered by the speaker in the workshop:

  • Introduction and history of SAP. (SAP AG is the German software designed in 1972).
  • Three core functions of SAP ERP.
    SAP Technical.
    SAP Functional.
    SAP IT Infra.
  • SAP Technical overview about coding & designing of software.
  • SAP Functional Developer overview about all 12 modules in which Sales & Distribution was the main module.

(Main Modules includes FICO, MM, SD, HR, PP, QM, CRM).

  • SAP IT Infra overview.
  • SAP Sales & Distribution explained widely.

    (SAP Sales & Distribution is the module for mapping the data after sales. it is a type of a job where no physical marketing or sales is required. The process starts when a salesperson contacts a customer and sells the product and ends with customer satisfaction. The whole mapping process is done by SAP SD Consultant).

  • Career in different modules of SAP.
  • Sales process which is followed in SAP Sales & Distribution. On this whole process the mapping is done. (Inquiry > Quotation > Negotiation > Sales order > Delivery > Billing order > Release to accounts).
  • Whole GST process which is taxable in different regions of India.

    There are 2 approaches, MTO (Make to Order Process) & MTS (Make to stock sales process).

  • Overview on Company Code of any company as it is the legal entity of the organization.
  • Enterprise Structure which is working on SAP.
  • Overview on Customer Master & Vendor Master.
  • The 3 basic segments of data.
    (General data, Company code data & Sales area data).
  • Overview on Material Master.


Mr. Rakesh first explained all the required theoretical knowledge and concepts to the students and then gave them an opportunity to operate on SAP SD on the computers. The Licensed Application was introduced to the students and the speaker guided the students with the basic Transactional Codes which are used in SAP to operate it. Students performed all the transactional coding in the SAP software efficiently.


The students were exposed to the nuances of SAP ERP which is widely used in the corporate world. The workshop highlighted the usage of SAP Sales & Distribution and gave a theoretical as well as practical overview. The Speaker explained the whole sales process which is operated in the SAP ERP by the companies.
