My Internship started from 15th of April,2014. We were 15 members from ITM who were trained in Juhu Store for 15 days. It had been a wonderful opportunity for me to get to know the retail Industry from the very core. The entire Training session consists of multiple learning stages such as process training as well as product training, followed by different transaction processes, safety issues, grooming standard and most importantly TCOC (Tata Code Of Conduct) which was nothing but a detail format of disciplines, value, ethics, business principles of the Company which were taught to us by different unorthodox ways such as role-plays, puzzles, quizzes etc.
After that I was assigned as an Assistant Departmental Manager in Vashi Zip Store. Prior to that I did not have any work experience after my graduation in Engineering. So, for me it was a wonderful opportunity to take breath in the corporate atmosphere. From day one I was very keen to know the depth of the industry. Our job sheet was about operational part of the industry. But to know it from a better angle I had to do sales which should be bread and butter for any MBA aspirant.
Apart from that I managed to handle a couple of projects which was related to finding solution for the store. My first project was assigned by the Area Manager Mr.Alhad , to find out the reason behind the minimum convergence in terms of higher footfall in the store. I was assisted by my Company Guide Mr.Suraj Valimbe, how to measure consumer behavior and how to do research at store level which helped me to conclude the project. My second project was an opportunity to get to know corporate in broader manner. It was a task to visit different corporate houses to get bulk deal for the company which helped me to learn the lesson of determination and patience when you are dealing with various clients for the company.
Throughout the five months of internship I have been working as an active member of the organization which gave me an exposure to feel free in corporate environment and definitely boosted up my confidence level. Takeaways and learning were enormous in terms of customer interface, complaint handling, driving sales, operational activities and more over how to achieve target and what are the preparation we need to make to attain the goal.
