The XAT is a prestigious MBA entrance exam held by the XLRI in Jamshedpur. It will be held for aspirants seeking admission to XLRI colleges and other affiliated universities' management programs. XAT becomes a difficult nut to crack due to the high degree of competitiveness and difficulty, making it all the more important for test-takers to have a comprehension of the XAT syllabus.
Despite the fact that the exam-conducting authorities do not establish any standard criteria for the XAT curriculum, we have jotted down the important topics below in accordance with the pattern used in previous year's XAT papers.
On Sunday, January 2, XLRI holds the Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT. The XAT registration and application process is currently open. The deadline to register is November 30. While the XAT is required for admission to XLRI, the XAT 2022 exam result will also be accepted for admission to over 160 MBA colleges.
XAT 2022 will be held in a single 3-hour session from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM as a computer-based test for admission to the XLRI PGDM 2022-24 batch.
In XAT 2022, there will be 100 multiple-choice questions. There will be no sectional time limit during the 3-hour exam duration to complete the entire question paper. The only way to register for the XAT is to do so online.
The XAT 2022 exam is the full name of the Xavier Aptitude Test, and it is one of India's largest MBA entrance exams, with 160+ MBA colleges participating. Every year, over 1,00,000 individuals from a variety of fields, including engineering, commerce, humanities, science, and law, apply and sit for this exam in order to get admission to one of these top B-schools' MBA programs.
The Xavier Aptitude Test has become easier over time, however achieving a high percentile (90+) on this exam requires 4-5 months of dedicated study.
Overview of the XAT Syllabus
XAT is offered in an online format at over 100 exam centers across India. Part I of the exam covers Verbal and Logical Reasoning, Decision-Making, Quantitative Ability, and Data Interpretation, while Part II covers General Knowledge and Essay Writing. In the XAT, there are 100 objective-type questions and one essay question that must be completed in 190 minutes. The following are the essential topics for the XAT exam syllabus, organized by section:
Data Interpretation & Quantitative Ability
This part contains 28 questions and is considered the most difficult. It is based on core mathematical concepts and assesses the candidate's ability to handle complexity within a set time limit. Quantitative and DI problems of the XAT demand meticulous calculations and can be aced with enough practice, strong conceptual clarity, and a clear understanding of shortcuts and formulae. In the section, both elements are given roughly equal weight. The following areas account for the majority of XAT questions:
- Heights & Distance
- Direction Sense
- Linear and Quadratic Equations
- Time, Speed & Distance
- Tables, Graphs, Pie Charts
- Profit and Loss
- Mensuration- 2D and 3D
- Averages and Partnerships
- Algebra Functions
This is a unique component of the XAT that is unlike any other management test. Candidates must read the given passages or a set of material, think about it rationally, and then come up with a viable solution or suggestions in the decision-making portion. The exam consists of 6-8 decision-making sets, each with 2-3 questions. This section contains a total of 21 questions. Its questions range from moderate to difficult in difficulty and include the following topics:
- Situational Issues
- Analytical Reasoning
- Financial issues
- Managerial Issues
- Ethical dilemmas
- Data Arrangements
Verbal and Logical Ability
Every manager and leader must be able to communicate effectively and think logically. As a result, this component of the XAT aims to examine applicants' associated abilities with 26 logical thinking and verbal ability questions. Reading Nearly half of this section is made up of comprehensions, and the texts cover political, economic, and abstract topics. Other topics are mostly used to assess the candidate's command of the English language. Logical reasoning, on the other hand, covers a wide range of topics, including deductive possibilities and inference-based conclusions. Examine the following major subjects in the Verbal & Logical Ability section:
- Reading Comprehension
- Logical Completion of Idea
- Critical Reasoning
- Fill in the Blanks
- Para Jumble
XAT Syllabus: General Knowledge
The General Knowledge section covers a wide range of topics, from general knowledge facts to current national and worldwide happenings. In the XAT, there are 25 GK questions, with the weighting of static and current GK altering from year to year. This section must be prepared from the following areas:
- Indian Polity and Constitution
- Science and Technology
- Current Affairs (last 12 months)
- Awards and Recognitions
- Business and Corporate GK (Mergers and Acquisitions)
Essay is another one-of-a-kind XAT component. This section contains either abstract or current-events-related topics. Your ability to organize your beliefs and thoughts in a logical manner is more important than your knowledge in this essay. You can use the prior year's XAT essay subjects for practice and preparation.
Exam Pattern for XAT 2022
The XAT Exam Pattern is also important for acquiring a thorough understanding of the type, style, and format of the questions that will be asked in the MBA admission exam. Unlike previous years, the XAT exam pattern has shifted. The XAT exam, like other MBA exams, will be divided into four portions. There is no part for aspirants to test their ability with Subjective Answer Questions or Essay Writing. The exam will be held, and candidates will be allotted 180 minutes instead of 210 minutes to answer the questions.
Exam Analysis for XAT 2022
Another significant aspect of XAT exam preparation is understanding the overall pattern of recent question papers in order to analyze the type, style, and format of the questions asked. Experts have studied the XAT 2022 Exam paper over the years to determine the MBA entrance exam's Exam pattern. Candidates have noticed that the XAT 2022 has become more convenient for students with non-engineering backgrounds in recent years, as the emphasis on Quantitative Aptitude has been greatly reduced. On the other hand, the general exam design has experienced a consistent increase in the amount of questions from Verbal Ability and Reasoning. Such patterns reveal the primary focus areas for which a candidate should prepare in order to do well on the XAT 2022 Exam.
