The All India Management Association (AIMA) administers the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) at the national level to screen students for admission to MBA and related programs. The MAT exam is offered as a computer-based test as well as a paper-based test. Following the CAT, the MAT is a prominent entrance exam that serves as a pathway to numerous B-schools.
Overview of MAT exam 2022
Registrations for the MAT 2022 May session PBT Examinations have begun at the All India Management Association. The deadline for students to complete registrations for the May 2022 Phase 1 exams is May 9, 2022, according to the dates published. The Phase 1 tests for May 2022 will be held on May 15, 2022.
The Management Aptitude Test's Highlights (MAT)
For the MAT Exam, applicants must consider the following important points:
- The MAT is offered as an online/offline exam at a limited number of locations.
- The exam comprises 200 multiple-choice questions divided into five sections.
- This exam will take 2.5 hours to complete.
- Depending on the number of applicants, this entrance exam may be held in two or more sessions.
- Every incorrect response will result in negative marking.
- During the examination, electronic gadgets will not be permitted in exam centers.
Eligibility Criteria for MAT exam 2022:
The MAT is a standardized management entrance exam that applicants who want to study management at MAT exam colleges across India take. The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a requirement for admission to over 600 business schools across the country. The test takes place four times a year: in February, May, September, and December. Any applicant who wishes to take the MAT exam must ensure that they meet the management test's eligibility requirements.
The MAT exam eligibility rules have remained unaltered in recent years and are likely to do so again this year. However, we provide extensive information about the Eligibility requirements for MAT to make it easier for you to go over the crucial aspects.
MAT exam eligibility Criteria
Before enrolling for the MAT 2022 MBA admission exam, you should familiarize yourself with the following Eligibility Criteria:
- There is no upper age limit for taking the MAT 2022 exam.
- To take the MAT exam in 2022, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
1. A bachelor's degree from a recognized university in any discipline
2. A professional degree, such as a CA, ICWA, CS.
3. You must be in your final year of studies (Have to submit final proof of Graduation Mark-sheet before admission)
- The candidate's percentage of marks will be calculated according to the policies of the individual Institution or University.
- If the particular institution or university awards CGPA/Grades, they will be converted to percentages of marks based on the eligibility criteria of the participating MAT exam colleges.
Simply meeting the minimum MAT 2022 eligibility requirements does not guarantee a candidate's acceptance into a management institute that accepts MAT scores for admission.
Candidates must keep a legitimate phone number and a unique email account throughout the MAT Exam procedure, according to AIMA's prospectus, and they should not change during this time.
Graduates in any discipline or those in their final year of graduation can apply for the MAT exam, according to AIMA. You are qualified to apply and take the exam if you have a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that has been completed for at least three years.
Those who are awaiting their graduation final year results will be offered provisional admission to the MBA program if their MAT score is shortlisted by the B-school. They must, however, provide a certificate from the Registrar/Principle of the College declaring that the candidate has met all of the requirements for a Bachelor's Degree on the certificate issue date.
The candidates' MAT Scorecard can be used to apply for admission to any B-school in India.
Exam Pattern for MAT 2022
Due to the COVID19 pandemic, AIMA has canceled the PBT and CBT MAT exams for the May 2021 session; however, hopefuls can still take the IBT style exam. Because of the spread of Coronavirus and the need to avoid large crowds, AIMS has developed Remote Proctored Internet Based Tests, which will allow applicants to take the MBA entrance exam from the comfort of their own homes. The MAT exam, which is the only MBA entry exam, is held four times a year, in February, May, September, and December. Let's have a look at the adjustments that have been made to the exam pattern for the May 2022 session.
When it comes to passing the MAT MBA admission examination, having a thorough understanding of the exam structure will provide them an advantage over the competition. In the article below, we have provided a detailed analysis of the MAT exam pattern for the candidates' benefit:
Exam Structure in MAT 2022.
The MAT is an MBA entrance exam that, like all other major B-school admissions exams, includes MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions). What sets it apart from other B-school admission exams is that it is available in both paper-based and online/computer-based test modes. The table below provides a quick overview of the MAT exam pattern:
MAT 2022 - Examination Mode
The MAT is one of the few MBA admission exams that is still offered in both an online and an offline version. The All India Management Association (AIMA) placed a greater emphasis on the candidate's knowledge than on their ability to solve problems only using a computer. As a result, the MAT MBA test is available to applicants in both paper-based / offline and computer-based online formats. The computer-based test is simple, with applicants answering MCQs by selecting the correct choice. Offline mode, on the other hand, uses an OMR / Optical Mark Recognition sheet to administer the MCQ format test. On the OMR sheet, candidates must mark the correct answers with a pencil.
Duration of the MAT Exam.
The limited-time duration is one of the factors that make the MAT test difficult for students. The MAT MBA exam lasts two hours and thirty minutes, for a total of 150 minutes. Candidates must answer a total of 200 questions split across five sections within this time constraint. However, unlike a few other management entrance exams, the MAT does not have a set time restriction for each component. However, with only 2:30 hours to review all of the components, a candidate should spend no more than 30 minutes on any one section.
Section-by-Section Breakdown of the MAT Exam
As previously noted, the MAT 2022 MBA admission exam comprises 200 questions divided into five portions. The following are the five sections:
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning: This component assesses the candidates' ability to reason logically. Series and Sequences, Input/Output Analysis, Direction Sense, Data Arrangement, Coding and Decoding, Blood Relations, and Critical Reasoning are among the subjects covered in this area.
Language Comprehension: The Language Comprehension component of the MAT is a difficult nut to crack. It is designed to measure the candidate's comprehension and reading ability. The LC section's questions are often lengthy and need a high command of the English language and comprehension skills.
Data Analysis & Sufficiency: As the name implies, this component focuses on data analysis and assesses the candidates' analytical and critical thinking abilities. Input/Output Analysis, Decoding, Blood Relations, Data Arrangements, Direction Sense, and other topics may be covered in the exam.
Mathematical Skills: One of the most difficult areas of the MAT exam, the Mathematical Skills section covers the fundamentals of mathematics. This portion would include questions on commercial mathematics, fundamental arithmetic, and geometry. To pass this part, candidates must understand basic equations and elementary math principles.
Indian and Global Environment: This subject is primarily reliant on the candidate's knowledge of current events and a general understanding of what is going on in the world. The questions here would be based on current economic, corporate, financial, and political happenings.
MAT 2022
The MAT 2022 exam pattern also provides a comprehensive description of the MAT exam scoring system. Each of the 200 questions on the MAT question paper is worth one march, bringing the total number of points for the exam to 200. However, each negative answer on the MAT exam is penalized penalty. Despite the fact that each question in the MAT exam is worth only one point, the final score is sometimes scaled up to/out of 800.
