It stands for Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test which is a very important and a famous entrance exam of post graduate level for MBA in NMIMS(Narsee Monjee Institute Of Management Studies.

It is a post graduate level program ehre management courses are offered.

The entrance exam NMAT is conducted by GMAC(Graduate Management Admission Council. NMAT’s admission form is done online as well as the eczema is also conducted in online mode on computer based.

The duration for this exam is 2 hours.

In comparison to CAT, XAT, and other more MBA exams, NMAT is definitely easier; but it is not the easiest one to crack. The reason being is time. This is actually a time-based entrance exam, and one has to be very quick in attempting the maximum number of correct questions to gain maximum score, if not all.

Important programs which are offered by NMIMS after cracking this entrance exam are MBA and MBA(HR), MBA(Pharmaceutical management), MBA(Entrepreneurship and Family Business).

Eligibility to appear for this exam is full time bachelor degree with at least(10+2+3) pattern and 50% aggregate marks. Final Year students in 5th or 6th semester are also eligible for appearing in NMAT entrance exam. As a provisional basis admission.

One can give this exam 3 times and the best score will be acceptable as your final score.

The exam paper consists of 120 questions. A correct answer fetches 3 marks and there is no negative marking for wrong or unattempted questions. 

The syllabus consists of Language skills, quantitative skills and logical reasoning. This exam is mostly similar to CAT.

NMAT paper pattern-

This entrance exam is conducted in online computer based mode which consists of 120 multiple selection questions which are to be attempted within 2 hours without any provision of negative marking but 3 marks are scored for each question.


It enables candidates' best performance as there’s no negative marking, is less speeded with 10% fewer questions and gives equal weight to all sections. Candidates can play to their strength as it enables them to choose section orders according to their priorities. Candidates can personalize their preparation using offline guides, study plans and exam preparation. Candidates can easily assess their performance as it also enables them to preview their score instantly, they can download the score card within 48 hours from the exam. It offers 3 attempts to improve candidates' score as the best one is considered as the final one. Candidates can easily choose NMAT accepting schools to send scores. This entrance exam provides flexibility. convenience and safety as it has exam centers with social distancing norms or as online proctored at home in India. This entrance exam also has online proctored tests at home in the rest of the world. 

Different colleges have different criteria; some accept the first attempt score of NMAT while some accepts the best scores of NMAT.

Then comes Final Selection.

Past academic performance - The candidates who have a good academic background and have the ability to work under pressure, might get priority in the selection process through this entrance exam.

Extracurricular skills - The colleges accepting NMAT may consider extracurricular activities such as leadership ability,managing skills, communication skills, entrepreneurial skills, creativity, innovational skills, and involvement in community services like NSS might be considered.

After cracking this entrance exam one has to pay nearly 17.5 Lakhs for the MBA and MBA(HR) courses.

Placement expected package is average  17.58 lakhs per annum and highest 34.11 lakhs per annum in MBA. For MBA(HR) average package is nearly 13.57 lakhs per annum and highest package 20.76 lakhs per annum.

Gender diversity in this entrance exam is 7:3 and educational diversity in this entrance exam is that 60-70% candidates are from engineering or BTech background and commerce ranges from 10-20%.

The cut off goes to 240. This college offers only an MBA(HR) through this entrance exam. Expected package in placement through this college is 12 lakhs per annum and fees charged is 18-20 lakhs for the program.

MISB Bocconi Mumbai-

The cut off goes to 200+. This college offers an MBA program. Expected package in placement through this college is around 9 lakhs per annum and fees charged for the program is 16-25 lakhs.

According to some crackers, starting at least 1 month before the NMAT can prepare you to crack the exam. Many candidates suggest following a consistent time table to crack the exam. This means one has to devote at least an hour every day to get oneself well prepared for the exam.
