Overview of XAT 2022

XAT (Xavier's Aptitude Test) is a management admission examination. XAT is an online examination, and the XAT 2022 Exam Pattern will be based on the most recent curriculum, eligibility criteria, marking scheme, and types of questions asked in previous years' question papers.

XAT was always primarily a pen-and-paper test, but it has recently altered gears. The XAT Exam was conducted online for the first time in 2019. The XAT Exam is divided into two sections: aptitude and general knowledge. To pass the test, the individual must attempt both sections, even though most universities only consider the first paper's results.

  • Candidates must have completed a three-year degree or a UGC equivalent degree in any stream with no backlogs. As a result, candidates with two-year diplomas are ineligible unless they have completed a three-year degree.
  • Candidates from India, other countries, and non-resident Indians (NRIs) are all able to take the XAT 2022 on an extra assessing agent, the GMAT. Candidates from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Kathmandu, Nepal can take the exam from their home.
  • In the XAT 2022, there is no upper age limit.
  • Candidates in their final year of studies are eligible to take the XAT 2022, however their selection is contingent on their finishing their bachelor's degree.

Exam Pattern for XAT 2022

The XAT 2022 Exam Pattern will most likely differ from those of previous MBA Entrance Exams. The XAT 2022 paper will be divided into four sections:

  • Verbal and Logical Ability
  • Decision Making
  • Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
  • General Knowledge

The XAT 2020 Exam consisted of two separate papers. The first paper included 75 questions and a time limit of 165 minutes. It was divided into three halves. The other paper consists of 25 general knowledge questions over a 15-minute period. As a result, the exam's total time limit is 180 minutes, with no sectional time limits.

The following was the marking scheme for the XAT 2020 Exam:

For the MCQs, each correct response was worth one point.

Any wrong response in the MCQs will result in a 0.25 point penalty.

There is a penalty of 0.10 mark for each question over the 8-question mark in the XAT 2020 Paper if the candidate leaves more than 8 questions unanswered.

The regulation governing the amount of questions that can be left is regularly changed. The addition of this regulation, however, requires the applicant to determine how many questions they can afford to skip, especially given the penalty for an inaccurate response is 2.5 times the penalty for skipping the question.

Exam Pattern for XAT 2022: Important Points to Remember

You must understand as a candidate that only a thin layer of candidates pass the XAT exam and are routed to the ground. There are various ground checks that a candidate must be aware of in order to be one of them. These checks can be carried out while maintaining your psychological and strategic state of mind. Here are some key points to remember that will set you apart from the rest of the applicants taking the XAT 2022: Half an hour after the examination begins, you must submit your question paper.

  • For final percentile evaluation and merit list declaration, colleges will only pay attention to the first 75 questions from the first three parts of the written XAT 2022 paper.
  • After passing part 1 of the XAT 2022 exam, candidates can only move on to part 2 of the exam, which is the GK component.
  • For the GK section, no time extensions are planned.
  • By a little margin, the number of questions could be increased or decreased.
  • Apart from minor adjustments in the negative marking of questions tried after 8 unattempted questions in a sequence, the marking scheme for XAT 2022 is projected to be more or less the same.
  • The overall difficulty level of XAT 2022 is projected to be moderate to difficult.
  • For visually impaired candidates, a quarter-hour extension (i.e. 25 minutes) may be granted.

Syllabus for XAT 2022

Because the XAT 2022 Exam does not have a set syllabus, XAT Preparation can be challenging. To study the XAT 2022 Syllabus, one should ideally go section by section to cover as much territory as possible, even if this is impractical due to the confusing structure of the syllabus. As previously stated, the sections are as follows:

  • Verbal and Logical Ability
  • Decision Making
  • Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation
  • General Knowledge

This section is the first section of the XAT exam paper and is expected to have 26 MCQ-based questions. This section can be further split into the following subsections:

  • Reading Comprehension
  • Verbal Ability
  • Logical Reasoning

This section is slightly more difficult than the CAT because it can include tough topics like analogies of unlike assertions, critical thinking, assertive reasoning, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases, jumbled paragraphs, and so on. One of the reasons for this notion is that the XAT 2022 Exam has no sectional time constraints. As a result, most applicants rush through this portion, whether it's at the beginning or end of the paper. As a result, the candidate's average score in the part drops, and the section gains a reputation for being difficult.

The section on Making Decisions

This is part of the second section of the XAT exam, and it is one of the most critical sections. Almost 22 questions are expected in this area. Among all the other MBA Entrance Exams in India, the Decision-Making component is unique. Because it consists of tiny instances and drawn-out case studies, it does not have a set syllabus. In order to make a decision about the solution, the students must predict or forecast the solution.

The section on Quantitative Ability

The QA section of the XAT exam consists of the second half of the second section and is predicted to have a total of 27 questions. Mathematical problems and Data Interpretation questions make up the QA part. It is made up of various separate parts, including:

  • Geometry
  • Percentages
  • Arithmetic
  • Trigonometry
  • Statistics
  • Commercial Maths
  • Speed and Distance
  • Clocks
  • Data Sufficiency
  • Line, Bar, and Mixed Graphs
  • Caselets

These are a few of the XAT Exam's most often tested topics. Aside from these concerns, there are other data interpretation questions. Because of the section's intrinsically lengthy character, time management is crucial.

Section on General Knowledge

The GK part will be the final section of the XAT exam and will consist of 25 questions. This section of the XAT 2022 Exam will not be included in the overall score for determining the cutoff, but it will have a role in the candidate's ultimate selection. The main topics in the General Knowledge section could include static and current events, summits and conferences, well-known entrepreneurs, business and economy, books and writers, banking and finance, scientific breakthroughs, and so on. As a result, candidates should not fully disregard this area. Because of the vastness of the general knowledge portion, no candidate can be totally secure in their preparation. The main advantage in this portion is that there is no negative marking, therefore candidates should tackle each question with at least their best guess.
