XAT is an abbreviation for Xavier Aptitude Test. It is India's largest MBA admission test for XLRI, IMT, XIMB, TAPMI, and more than 160 MBA colleges. XLRI administers the XAT on behalf of XAMI. Every year, 100,000 individuals from various fields apply for and take this exam.

XLRI administers the XAT 2022 test on behalf of XAMI. For over 70 years, XLRI has conducted this test at the national level to identify the most qualified candidates for management study. Despite the Covid epidemic, XLRI held the exam as a center-based examination in 72 locations throughout India last year.

  • Foreign nationals with GMAT scores can apply for admission to XLRI.

Following the announcement of the results, the selection procedure for the XAT exam will commence. Candidates should be aware that XLRI does not use a centralized selection method. Each institute has its unique set of criteria and selection process. Take note of the following criteria to obtain a sense of the XAT exam selection procedure.

  • GD and PI Rounds will be part of the exam selection process. Candidates who pass the exam should expect a call from their preferred institute.
  • Following the completion of the PI Round, XLRI will produce the final merit list based on many metrics such as exam 2022 scores, GD-PI scores, academic records, job experience, and GK and essay writing section scores.

Syllabus

The exam syllabus is also very comparable to other MBA examinations in India. The only distinction of this test is in two sections: decision-making and essay writing.

The exam's decision-making portion includes scenarios including commercial decisions and ethical quandaries. Candidates must respond to questions based on their comprehension of the scenario.

Other important disciplines include quantitative ability, data interpretation, verbal and logical ability, and general knowledge.

The 2022 exam syllabus is split into four sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension; Decision Making, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness. Except for General Awareness, the other three exams are core portions that determine the percentile score and XLRI shortlisting criterion. The score from the General Awareness component is considered during the Personal Interview phase

XLRI has reinstated the descriptive essay writing part in the syllabus as of 2021. This portion, however, does not contribute to the percentile computation.

Before commencing your study, it is critical to have a firm grasp of the most recent syllabus and test structure. As a result, crucial changes in the curriculum and important themes are some of the most important things you should be aware of before studying for the exam.

Exam centers

XLRI will hold the exam in 81 cities throughout the country at over 100 test locations. International test cities for the exam may not exist. Previously, the exam was held in Dubai (UAE) and Kathmandu (Nepal).

Due to an increase in the number of applications, XLRI has raised the number of test cities from 46 to 80+. When applying for the exam, candidates can select two desired test cities. Your admit card will include the name and address of the test center assigned to you.

Preparation tips

Ideally, XAT college preparation for 2022 should last six to nine months. XAT is one of the more difficult MBA entry tests among its peers, requiring focused time and effort. Decision Making, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge are the four components.

In XAT, it is critical to provide equal attention to all four parts because sectional cut-offs play a significant role in admission to XLRI, Jamshedpur. So, split your study time evenly between these areas. Begin by developing conceptual clarity in each subject. You might wish to start with the themes you're already familiar with. Make a list of your strengths and shortcomings, and then start with your strengths. This will offer you confidence while dealing with difficult subjects.

Key Takeaways

The XAT is regarded as one of the most demanding MBA entry examinations. At the same time, it is a test for which few applicants apply. This might be due to a variety of factors, including the level of difficulty or the small number of universities that accept this test. Candidates who prepare for the CAT test might also consider taking the XAT depending on the examination format and syllabus. Because many MBA admission examinations follow the same format, applicants should constantly aspire to take several entrance exams.
