Bachelor of Optometry

Bachelor of Optometry is a 4-year UG program designed for students freshly out of high school.

What is it?

In a Bachelor of Optometry course, students are taught the basics of medical sciences, focusing on vision and eye-related functions. The first three years allow students to develop a complete understanding of the different aspects of human eyesight and the various eye diseases and their treatment.

Alongside learning the various subjects related to optometry, students learn to use different high-end equipment, such as a Lensometer, Keratometer, Auto-Refractometer, and so on.

In the fourth year, students can intern at an eye hospital or clinic for a year, which helps them gain hands-on experience. This internship opportunity allows students to put their theoretical knowledge to practical use.

Eligibility criteria

Students must fulfill specific eligibility criteria to pursue a Bachelor's in Optometry. The Bachelor of Optometry eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • They should have completed 12th grade or an equivalent chemistry, physics, and biology examination. The minimum aggregate required is 40% (35% for reserved category students).
  • Students who have studied 10+2 from CBSE or some other board having Medical Laboratory Technology as a Vocational Course may also apply.
