Analytics Society of India Chapter Launch & Master class on Demystifying Intelligence.

The Department of Business Analytics, headed by Prof Dr. Neena Nanda organized the ITM-ASI Chapter inaugural and a free Master class by renowned faculty from IIM-Bangalore on 13th July 2019 at ITM-Kharghar. It was attended by 130 participants which included Professionals, academicians and students. ITM was represented by Director, Dean, Assistant Directors, HoDs, faculty and students. The Master class on “Demystifying Artificial Intelligence” was free for all participants.
Business Analytics at ITM aims to create, analytic-driven professionals by means of state-of-the- art technological & academic experience, to benefit the global business. We envisage encouraging more of real-time research and application, live projects, and regularly organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, and technical talks for the benefit of students and professionals in the analytics domain through this partnership.
Analytics of Society of India officially joined hands with ITM Business School on 13th of July 2019, by launching the Navi Mumbai chapter by Prof Dr. U. Dinesh Kumar from IIM-B.Analytics Society of India is the first and largest body of analytics professionals and organizations in the country. The society was founded by eminent personalities from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) and Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB) to promote and propagate knowledge in the area of analytics. Various blue-chip corporate organizations, educational institutions, and individuals from across the country are members of this society. ASI provides a platform for organizations and people to come together to share their knowledge, resources and address their challenges in the field of analytics. It promotes research and application in this domain. ASI regularly organizes workshops, seminars, conferences, and technical talks for the benefit of professionals in the analytics domain.
The Chapter Launch was started with the Lamp Lighting Ceremony where Prof. Sadaf (Master of the event) welcomed dignitaries – Prof Dr. U. Dinesh Kumar (Chair, Data Centre and Analytics Lab, IIM- B) , Mr. Mohan Ramaswamy (CEO- Rubixds Data Sciences), Prof Dr. Lakshmi Mohan (Director, ITM – Kharghar), Prof. RSS Mani (Vice President -Institutional Development ITM Group of Institutions ) .
Speech by Prof. Lakshmi Mohan, Director and Campus Head, ITM Business School, Kharghar; highlighted the importance of Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence in today’s world and the attitude students should develop while pursuing career in the said field. She focused on how the world is changing w.r.t to technology and the efforts we have to take to keep us updated about

the same.She further added the importance of analytics and how the industries are moving towards it at a rapid speed and also addressed how ITM is making their students industry ready to gain expertise in the field by providing trainings through workshops, projects, internships and providing many more opportunities to them.
Prof. RSS Mani, Vice President of Institutional Development and Chief mentor of MBA programs. He is highly regarded as an ‘HR Guru’ in HRD circles.He shared with the audience role of Prof Dr Neena Nanda in initiating the idea of joining hands with ASI and his subsequent meetings at IIM- B, which resulted in collaboration of Analytics Society of India and ITM Business School. Prof. RSS Mani warmly welcomed the dignitaries of the Bombay Management Association, and their efforts in the field of Analytics research and Development. Bombay Management Association (BMA) since its establishment in 1954 has pioneered efforts to help enhance managerial effectiveness and improve the standards of Business Management in India
Mr. Mohan Ramaswamy, CEO of Rubixds Data Sciences, also addressed the audience. He is the Former MD India & South Asia of Lexis Nexis, one of the most respected global brands in legal Information. He is also the Former COO of Dun & Bradstreet India. In all Mr. Ramaswamy has 22+ years working with leading MNCs in India and abroad. His put light on the various concepts of Business analytics, Data Sciences and discussed how these fields are revolutionizing the organizations. His focus was converting information to data and then data to decision.
Chief Guest Dr. U. Dinesh Kumar and all the dignitaries on dais launched the chapter officially which was followed by “Master class on Demystifying Artificial Intelligence”, conducted by, Dr. U. Dinesh Kumar.
Prof Dr. Sarit Prava Das (Dean – Academics, ITM-Kharghar) then spoke on future of ITM-ASI. She emphasized on how this association with ASI was much needed with launch of our PGDM- BA program. She also gave her insights on the growth of analytics industry and how all domains are touched by analytics. Her talk was followed by Dr Dinesh Master class.
Dr. U. Dinesh Kumar has two decades of teaching and consulting experience, and is one of the top 10 most prominent Analytics academicians in India. He has conducted in-house training program for several organizations such as Accenture, Aditya Birla Group, Allianz, Ashok Leyland, Bank of America, CISCO, ITC, etc. He has published 35 case studies on Business Analytics and Machine learning Algorithms based on Indian and Multinational Organizations at Harvard Business Publishing.
The Master class started with interaction involving audience, which not only included students and faculties from analytics field but also from varied backgrounds who were curious to be acquainted with the concept of Artificial Intelligence. He then discussed the primary objective of Analytics Society of India which revolved around how they are not only contributing to the bigger MNCs but also how they help startups to make effective decisions by using data available with them for improving business and achieving targets in the most efficient manner.

The major areas of discussion in the Master Class included demystifying the concepts of natural language process, Deep Learning, Simulation Modeling, Machine Translation, Social Network Analysis, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Visualization, Virtual Personal Assistant, etc.
The master class focused on simplifying the complexities of artificial intelligence. Growth in the field of AI market can attribute to factors such as growing big data and its adoption for improving consumer services and their satisfaction.
The master class outlined the latest AI trends related to technology, cases and the various business verticals. Topics related to Machine Learning using Python programming language and other trending languages, along with how computing system takes decisions with minimal human interventions, was discussed.
The take away from the master class by audience was positive in nature and included various points. They were able to understand the growth of Artificial Intelligence and how it is brings automation in our lives.
The master class ended with the question-answer session by students and guests, to which Dr. U. Dinesh Kumar answered promptly and a thank you address by our student Ms. Vasudha.
